About Kerman Rugs
Sunday, January 29th, 2012Kerman is a city in Persia (now known as Iran). The rugs which are woven in the city are referred to as Kerman rugs. Curvilinear patterns are the most common type of patter which can be found in these rugs. However, these patterns generally fall in pictorial category. The main design elements used in these rugs are Persian and European pictorial themes, hunting, animals, vase, garden, all-over floral, paneled garden, prayer, boteh and stripes. Modern versions of these rugs come with open field Aubussons (Koran or Quran) corners-and-medallion. The colors which are used in general are rich red, red-blue, lime green, pink, ivory, gray-blue, turquoise, orange, champagne and beige.
